Welcome to the Ashridge Golf Club website. We hope you will find the information contained in these pages to be helpful and that we may have the pleasure of seeing you at Ashridge at some time in the future.

The Club was officially opened in 1932 and has regularly featured in the top 100 golf courses in the UK. We are very pleased to announce that starting in 2003 and for a period of six years, Ashridge will host an 'Open Championship ' Regional Qualifying Competition. We are naturally delighted to have been selected by the R & A as a 'qualifying' course and of having the privilege of being associated with the 'Championship'. |
| Ashridge first came to prominence, however, in the late 1930's following the appointment of Henry Cotton as resident Club Professional. Sir Henry Cotton as he was to become, was arguably the best golfer of his era, winning three Open Championships including the Open at Carnoustie in 1937 whilst he was at Ashridge. In fact, in that year Sir Henry's two Assistants Bill Laidlow and Fred Robertson, finished 7th and 18th respectively, the only occasion during the last 100 years when three representatives of the same Club finished so high in the order. |
| From 1964, Alex Hay, the well known broadcaster, author and respected golf mentor spent 12 years as Professional at Ashridge and still remains a welcomed Honorary member of the Club. |
| Today the course is little changed. Measuring 6,625 yards and with a par of 72 the course has fairly been described as encouraging to the average golfer whilst thought provoking to the good player. |

The opening of our new clubhouse in March 2003 now means that we can provide the very best in modern facilities whilst retaining many of the traditional values of which Ashridge is justly proud. Built on two storeys, the upper floor includes the dining room, two lounges and spike bar with each room offering magnificent panoramic views over the course whilst the covered balcony, extending to three sides of the building, provides the ideal alternative to sit and relax after your golf. The spacious and well equipped changing rooms and a superbly stocked Professional Shop are situated on the ground floor. |
